tuesday... feels like monday

I don't know why but I am having the worst time trying to get my ideas out onto paper and into fabric. "Tomorrow will be different" is what I keep telling myself but there have been far over one hundred such promises made to myself. I finally have some free hours to really work and now I can't get going. Late this afternoon presented the perfect time slot for some good hard work but after an hour or so of sketching I fell asleep - really asleep! And it was after 8pm when I awoke. Something must change!!!

a blustery day

This is how Mary-Ruth looked as she darted in from the barn this morning. Mary-Ruth, where is your coat?!!

Two centimeters were the predicted snowfall for today. It seems however Mother Nature was in a joking mood because more than fifteen cm have arrived in the last three hours and the wind is a fierce icy blast! Any footsteps made by venturing out of doors disappear almost as soon as they are abandoned. It's just this sort of weather that makes me most productive though so I'm happy. I think it may be the coziness of feeling that the world is all snuggled in for a nap... and I won't be interrupted!

Ta-daaa... This is Dolly Lolly.

It's been an unexpectedly hectic week here in the studio so Dolly's premiere is a tad belated. But she's a forgiving little soul so there hasn't been a bit of grumbling about my delinquency. Thank you, Dolly!

Dolly is a new design for me and I think I'm happy with the results. I don't think I've quite captured her charm. In person she always seems to be peering right into my thoughts. Her dress is completely stitched from one of Liberty of London's tana lawns which are dreamy to work with. It's like sewing water!

promises, promises...

Whew! This is a big step! My wee little friends have been begging to show their whimsical smiles and pretty dresses to the outside world and we've finally decided this might be the best place for their debut. I hope to be able to keep my promises to their funny faces [and any readers that happen past] by introducing someone new at least every few days. Yes, I realize a new image everyday would be more fun but I'm not all that certain I can keep up with the photography chores... my idea generator works at a much faster pace than my needle and thread!

So... tune in tomorrow... when Dolly Lolly is scheduled to make an appearance...
